AWS (Amazon Web Services) is a collection of remote computing services (also called web services) that make up a cloud computing platform, offered by Amazon.com. These services operate from 12 geographical regions across the world. The most central and well-known of these services arguably include Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3).

AWS was first introduced in 2002, but it was officially launched in 2006 as a collection of web services that developers could use when building their applications. Since then, AWS has grown significantly, and now offers over 175 different services, including storage, networking, database, and application services.

AWS has become one of the most popular cloud computing platforms in the world, and is used by many companies, from small startups to large enterprises, to host and run their applications and data.

As of 2021, AWS has a market share of around 32% in the cloud infrastructure market. This makes it the most widely used cloud computing platform, followed by Microsoft Azure (20%) and Google Cloud Platform (8%).
