Artists That Went In a Disappointing Direction

It's Coldplay week, so for Side Three there's really only one thing to talk about: Disappointment. It's the worst, but it's part of being a music fan. You discover a band, get excited about them, and then they go in a direction that you don't care for. Sometimes it's sudden and jarring. Other times it happens so slowly that you almost don't even realize it until one day you look up and say "wait, this is terrible."

Is it the band's fault? Do they suck now, or did you have unfair expectations? Are you wanting to pigeonhole them and keep them in a box or do they think they're capable of more than they really are?
