Last month, I was invited as a keynote speaker for the (Family Business Network) FBN Asia Regional Conference. The conference's theme was, Families in Business: Leading the Change in the New Era. The event was graced by our Guest of Honour, Senior Minister of Singapore, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

I feel privileged to live in an epoch like the one we share right now. The New Era is upon us, whether we acknowledge it or not. The immense transformative forces have started to swirl and, in some specific instances, already knocked over some key institutions. The good news is that we already have all the resources we need to lead the change into the new era. I believe that family businesses are the right format for a business organization to lead the change that is required of us to strive in the New Era.

What is demanded of us now is a new humanity, one that has a new level of consciousness, not driven by fear but by love. Collectively moving us all from the I to the We. Never has the stakes been so high in the quest for a new humanity.
