In this video, I test two wide-angle lenses for handheld vlogging to see how they perform in real-world conditions:
• RF 15–30mm f/4.5–6.3 IS STM
• EF 16–35mm f/2.8L Mark II

The goal is simple: which lens works best for handheld vlogging without a gimbal?

I start by testing both lenses on the Canon R8, and then repeat the exact same test on the Canon R6 Mark II. This makes it easier to see how the lenses behave on two different camera bodies, especially when it comes to stabilization, handling, and overall usability.

I filmed this video while exploring some beautiful locations along the Jæren coastline:
• Varhaug gamle kirkegård – A historic coastal cemetery dramatically located close to the North Sea, known for its open landscape and strong winds.
• Obrestad havn – A small working harbour on the Jæren coast, surrounded by rocky shoreline and open ocean views.
• Hå Gamle prestegård – One of Norway’s best-preserved old parsonages, with a long history dating back to the Middle Ages and a stunning coastal setting.

The conditions were far from ideal: it was an ice-cold day at 4°C (39°F) with a strong northerly wind, making this a proper stress test for handheld vlogging and on-camera audio.

This is not a tutorial. I’m an amateur photographer and videographer, and this video is about learning through experience, testing gear in real conditions, and sharing honest observations along the way.
