Lord Vishnu holds the trinity of preservation and power , while Lord Shiva is responsible for the trinity of destruction. To understand about who is more powerful, let us consider,what scriptures have to say about it. There are two major incidents mentioned in the scriptures,where Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu fought with each other. The one who wins the battle is definitely the most powerful. Shiva and Vishnu are one and the same entity. They are essentially one and the same. They are the names given to the different aspects of the all-pervading Supreme Parabrahman the Supreme Being or the Absolute. The supreme lord of Shiva is Vishnu and the supreme lord of Vishnu is Shiva. The same lord is moving in the world always in two forms. Shiva is in the form of Vishnu and Vishnu is in the form of Shiva. There is no difference between them and both provide Auspiciousness. According to Hindu religious scriptures, Vishnu is in the heart of Shiva as Shiva is in the heart of Vishnu. They are manifestations of the same Cosmic Energy that creates, sustains, and destroys the Universe.
