Mini Cooper S Hatch 5 Door Auto Test Review

Описание к видео Mini Cooper S Hatch 5 Door Auto Test Review

Testing a Mini is always a special experience. Although the current cars are certainly not Mini in size, they have managed to retain the spirit and, especially, the go-kart like handling that has been a feature since the 1959 original.
The latest update to the range brought a few minor changes, the most distinctive being the Union Jack patterned rear taillights. On the interior, the familiar circular theme is still dominant.
Powered by the tried and tested 2L 4 cylinder petrol engine, the S version provides plenty of go with 141kW and 280Nm as well as the provision of a sport mode if you want to up the pace a bit. The 7 speed automatic transmission provides smooth and seamless shifts in comfort mode and a bit more snap if you switch to sport. Ride and handling have improved over the past few years, possibly as the ride quality of the standard run-flat tyres has improved.
Fuel consumption for the test period was 7.2L/ 100km. Taking into account that this was a good mix of urban and freeway driving plus enjoying the performance ability on occasions, this should be achievable in general usage.
About the only aspect of the modern version that does remain Mini is the boot space of only approx 150L in standard form with all seats in place. Fortunately the modern version is a hatchback so you can sacrifice seating to provide total load space of about 625L.
I have always believed that buying a Mini can border on an emotional choice. Simply put, there are more practical and affordable options on the market. HOWEVER, you buy a Mini because you love a Mini and you want an Mini. Bearing in mind that the Mini brand is owned by BMW gives the assurance of quality build and engineering, it also provides the buyer with an almost endless options list as well as endless opportunity for customisation. Take care when ordering and you can create your own Mini built to your personal preferences.
Priced at R473 880 in base specification, this includes a 5 year/ 100 000km full maintenance plan.
