Runrig at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo

Last year’s Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Show, Stories, included the Band’s song ‘The Story’! Their version also featured a pipe melody composed by Uist band, Beinn Lee. Runrig became the first band to play (and sell out) Edinburgh Castle six times in 2016 when the band were touring the final studio album, ‘The Story’, a record which has yet to be broken and a significant milestone in the band’s 45 year career. An iconic venue, synonymous with Scottish history and culture, the band couldn't have anticipated that a song from that final album would be performed in such a spectacular fashion under the ramparts five years after our final concert in Stirling.

An integral part of Edinburgh during the annual International Festivals, the Tattoo has been around since 1950. They’re big advocates of Scottish and Military tradition, music and culture, and they put on a spectacular Show every August at Edinburgh Castle. Runrig were delighted to hear that they were showcasing The Story for their international audience.
