Morozevich’s Unforgettable Fantasy

Featured is the game between Alexander Morozevich and Viktor Bologan from the 2004 Russia Team Championship. Starting from a Caro-Kann, Fantasy variation, the players eventually reach an opposite sides castles position. While Morozevich pursues an attack on the kingside with his bishop pair, Bologan looks for active play in the center with his two knights. The end position draws our attention to the value of Morozevich’s 6th rank pawn, and leaves us with an unforgettable final move due to its flash.
