Pegasus scandal | The Pegasus Project | How Pegasus Infiltrates your Phones? | Pegasus Spyware

France-based non-profit investigative media organization Forbidden Stories with technical support from Amnesty International's security lab started working on a project known as The Pegasus Project.
80 journalists from 17 media outlets in different parts of the world are working on this project and The Wire is among those 17 media outlets which is an Indian media organization that broke the story of the Pegasus scandal in India.
Pegasus spyware is a military-grade mobile phone snooping tool and the NSO Group, the developer and seller of this software claims that it sells it to the vetted governments only to fight against terrorism and criminal activities but the pegasus project has revealed the reality otherwise. This project started when they somehow gained the access to a leaked database basically consisting of well over 50k phone numbers belonging to users residing in different countries of the world. Forensic analysis of data of hundreds of phones has explicitly established that these numbers predominately are of those users who can be the person of interest or who raise their voices of dissidents against a regime, primarily their respective countries' governments. These targets or potential targets of pegasus spyware are primarily opposition political party leaders, journalists who are reportedly known for questioning the government's policy and their performances, constitutional authorities, judges and lawyers of the pinnacle courts, human rights workers, academicians scientists, election strategy makers for opposition parties, heads of states, civilians, etc.
This leaked database also features the numbers of late Jamal Khashoggi's family and friends, congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Prashant Kishore, Jitendra Kumar Ojha, Mukul Dev, Rohini Singh, Swati Chaturvedi, Pravin Togadiya, Prallahad Patel, the supreme court lady staffer who accused Ranjan Gogoi the former chief justice of India of sexual harassment.
The point of this video is to make people aware of the Pegasus spyware and its scandal primarily in India and elsewhere with facts and figures. I will also explain how this spyware infiltrates a phone and what are the different sorts of data it steals from mobile phones and how it can breach not only your privacy but pose an imminent threat to your safety and lives for that matter.
