Cheap Indian Food Manila: Swagat Home Cooked Indian Cuisine The Columns Makati Review. Indian Cuisine is one of the greatest gastronomic pleasures but is known to be quite expensive in Manila. We have found a reasonably priced Indian Halal restaurant in Manila that does not serve beef or pork, its called Swagat which means Welcome in Hindi and is located at the Columns Residences in Makati. It was first opened in 2003 by Indian couple Kamal and Sanjay Kanchandani along Rada Street in Legazpi Village but has since moved to their current location. You are guaranteed an authentic home cooked Indian meal that is comforting yet robustly flavorful as Sanjay constantly travels to Gujarat in Western India to bring back ingredients and spices for their dishes which are freshly cooked to order. This 22 seat resto has interiors that are unpretentious with only a few decors and accents but you will feel right at home with the fast and friendly service. From their extensive menu we would highly recommend the Vegetarian Samosas, Aloo Tikki, Mirchi Pakora, Papadom, Papadom Masala, Hara Bhara Kabab, Wada Sambar, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Mirchi, Dhaniawala Gosht, Shrimps Palak, Shrimps Makhanwala, Shrimps Tandoori, Basmati Rice, Kashmiri Pulao, Poori, Roti, Aloo Baigan, Palak Paneer, Dhal Makhani Black, Dal Fry, Vegetable Soup, For Refreshments Sweet and Rose Lassie, Indian Chai and for Dessert, Gulab Jamun.
