Tripura Elections 2023: Can BJP retain state or will king become kingmaker?

It's a three-way contest in Tripura. The ruling BJP is seeking a comeback... with its ally the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura. The CPI(M) that was dislodged by the BJP in the last election has tied up with the Congress. What makes this a three-way fight is the entry of a new regional player, the Tipra Motha, led by royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma. The party maybe just 2 years old but its run the campaign with a distinct agenda demanding a separate state for Tripura's indigenous people. Two years ago, his party swept the Tripura Tribal Autonomous District Council elections
picking 18 of 30 seats. In that election of April 2021... BJP's ally IPFT failed to open its account. Before that, the Tribal Council was the stronghold of the Left. The BJP won a handsome 50% of the vote share in the 2018 elections on the seats it contested... reducing the Left to just 16 seats even though the vote share didn't drop that drastically.
