Instagram changed the way to recover Instagram account in 2022.
Today's you don't easily have a form to fill out and you get transferred to a useless Help page.
But there is a link in the help page that allows you to fill out a form and recover your account.

Method: On your Mobile:
Open the Instagram app and underneath username and password, click on "Get Help Signing in"
Link to Access the NEW FORM to fill out: https://bit.ly/2zcs6nr

Apparently, that link is available on the US people. What one person did was to change their VPN on the browser so that it looks like they are located in the US, and then the link worked.

Insert your original email or phone number and click on Need More Help? at the Bottom
On the Help page, search for the word "Hacked", and select option: I think my Instagram has been hacked.
Scroll down at the bottom and click on: " hear more about your experience" link. It will open the form to fill out.


This link opens the NEW form available to reach out to Instagram.
1. Input username
2. Input Original Email or phone ## Associated
3. Insert link to your Instagram Page: www.instagram.com/username (even if the username was changed)
4. On the question of : "Have you tried following the steps listed in the Help Center to get help through the Instagram app?" Select Yes.
5. Fill out the rest
6. On Additional Comments: Describe in detail what happened.

Here is the sample text I used in the Additional Comments Section:

"Hi Instagram staff, I hope you're well. I couldn't recover my account using the phone number, email or username in the "Get Help Signing in" since all this information had been changed by the hackers.
I still have access to the original email :[email protected]. I'm willing to follow the steps necessary to recover my account. Please help. "

IMPORTANT: Do not worry, with the pandemic it takes time. I did not hear from Instagram as well. But after 3 days I just went and tried to recover my account by going to Get Help signing in and input your original email and I realized that they recovered the account but DID NOT send me an email. So keep filling the form and keep trying to recover yr account. Do not worry, you will recover IT.
