The new platform at JR Osaka Station opened on Mar.18, 2023.
Until now, access from KIX has been via Shin-Osaka on the Kanku-Kaisoku Rapid, Limousine Bus, Nankai Train, and also via Shin-Osaka on the Limited Express Haruka, but now the Limited Express Haruka and Limited Express Kuroshio will stop at the new platform, making it the shortest direct connection from Osaka Station to KIX.
The boarding time will be reduced by approx. 20 minutes from the Kanku Rapid, and the train will arrive at the airport in as little as 47 min.
I immediately boarded the limited express train "Far" from the "Umekita Underground Exit," which is also the topic of conversation with the face recognition ticket gate machine.

*Addendum: After the fare review on Apr.2023, the regular one-way adult fare is now 2,940 yen and 1,460 yen one-way for children during the regular season. The regular fare is +200 yen during peak season, -200 yen during off-peak season, and +400 yen during peak season.
