Exploring Topiramate for Neuropathic Pain Relief (and other neurological syndromes)

#Topiramate is not commonly used in #veterinary neurology but it can be very useful #off-label medication as it has a diverse mechanism of action and potential usefulness in some hard to treat diseases.
It is my 3rd line agent for #peripheral_neuropathic_pain (especially if mutilation or self-injury), my 4th line agent for #chiari and #syringomyelia and my 2nd line treatment for neurobehavior disorders like (obsessive) compulsive disorder #OCD and 3rd line treatment for resistant #epilepsy in #cats. Topiramate is more effective than #acetazolamide at lowering intracranial pressure.
