This immersive live performance, curated by South London-based music movement and curatorial platform Touching Bass, was developed in response to ‘Ibrahim Mahama: Lazarus’ (2021), an exhibition at White Cube Bermondsey reviving the ecosystem of a disused silo space in Tamale, Ghana.

In ‘Rose Of Jericho (A Song For Mahama)’, five artists of West and Central African heritage – anaiis, Brother Portrait, Yahael Camara Onono, Sonzi and Jali Bakary Konteh – extend the narrative of the show through vocals and instrumentals centred on resilience and rebirth. As the artists state: ‘We are products of the past, of labour, nurturing and sacrifice’ - a past that is ‘ahead of us, looking back’.
