who would have thought my youtube comeback would be with a fountains of wayne song? if anyone brings up stacy’s mom here i will go nuts, yes they did that song but they have a wide and interesting body of work that i’m a huge fan of, and this one is summer related so here we go

fountains of wayne really does have a talent for writing songs about situations that are kind of sad and pathetic but also very mundane and silly, like this one about being overheated and having no plans and seeing no people. you know, summer. if you’ve never heard it definitely go check it out, it’s my kind of summer vibe at least. the music goes very well with the theme too, going between laziness and nervous energy, and sounding mopey but not too serious about it, it’s really great writing
