Brasov (pronounced bra-shawv) is a austro-hungarian city on the edge of Transylvania, many of the saxon (germanic) residents left after 1989 and today it is mostly Romanian residents with a significant number of Hungarians. It was a blue-collar city with many factories and is slowly attracting wealthy full-time residents from Bucharest and other places. It is the epicenter of outdoors sports in Romania with a culture of hiking and appreciation of nearby mountain ranges.
