'Jim's Day'...A tribute to Jim Wild at 'Woody Gate'

Sunday August 4th brought Pat Wild and daughters Louise and Sara together with friends of the late and much loved Jim Wild, as a tribute in suitable 16mm garden railway style at Lynton & Barnstaple Railway's 'Woody Bay Garden Railway'.
A display of some of Jim's superb model engineering took pride of place, while guests took to the rails with their own favourite locos, and enjoyed a buffet of kindly donated ingredients. After friend of the family Paul James' perfect, and quite emotional, address extolling Jim's love of life, a toast was made, and the memorial seat installed by Pat Wild, through kind and appreciated agreement with the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway, was declared officially 'open'.
Some enjoyable hours under sunny skies brought the event sadly to a close with a final group photo, the guests having truly lived up to the seat's engraved epitaph ...'We didn't realise we were making memories, we just thought we were having fun'...
