We can see how Meherullah became more than what he was, a charismatic self-taught tailor who assumed the role of spokesman for Bengali Muslims in his battle against Christian evangelism and proselytization with a view to perpetuate their colony in India.
Initially Meherullah could not understand the real motive of Christian Priest and fell prey to their proselytization propaganda. But having realized true motive of English Priests, he not only reverted back to his own faith but also invested whatever he had in his arsenal to thwart their proselytization mission.
Despite having nothing to face the Priests fully backed and financed by British Government, he presented himself as a Shield of protection for Muslims and created an era of fighting the Colonial British. Meherullah became what he was as a demand of time.
Meherullah started countering Christian propaganda through mass meeting and also started writing in newspapers to protect his fellow illiterate and poor Muslim brothers from conversion. As the tide was turned, he undertook an all-out campaign of preaching his own religion throughout Bengal and Asam area. He started anti-colonial movement through mass meeting and writing books and in the newspaper and stopped proselytization effort of British and also reverted back a lot of converts to their own religion. Thus Meherullah created an era of fighting the British.
His continuous journey and preaching efforts told on his health. He returned home having fallen sick during his non-stop meeting and died in his village home at Satiantola shortly after, on 7th May 1907.
The ripples of dismay at Meherullah's death spread from Jessore to Dhaka and then to Calcutta. The premier Bengali-Muslim weekly periodical, Mihir-o-Sudhakar, led the chorus of grief-stricken obituaries.
All important Bengali-Muslim periodicals and newspapers echoed the Mihir-o-Sudhakar, including the Soltan, the Islam Pracharak, as well as the Moslem Suhrid, which emphasized the profound social loss Meherullah's passing had caused.
Munshi Meherullah is still relevant to this day enthusing the mass that it takes only will power, dedication and patriotism to face any tyrant.

উনবিংশ শতাব্দির মধ্যভাগে পুরো ভারতবর্ষ এবং বিশেষ করে বাংলায়, ব্রিটিশ সরকারের সরাসরি পৃষ্ঠপোষকতায় খৃষ্টান মিশানারিজের প্রচার প্রচারণা এবং ধর্মান্তরিতকরণের কাজ তখন একেবারে তুঙ্গে। এদেশের মানুষকে ধর্মান্তরিতকরণের মাধ্যমে ইংরেজ তাদের উপনিবেশ চিরস্থায়ী করার জন্য একেবারে মরিয়া। বাংলার মুসলমান সমাজ তখন তাদের ধর্ম বিশ্বাসের উপর খৃষ্টান পাদ্রীদের অপপ্রচারের কষাঘাতে জর্জরিত এবং অনেকটা দিশেহারা, তেমন একটি সময়ে ১৮৬১ খৃষ্টাব্দে জন্ম গ্রহন করা অকুতোভয় এক সমাজ সংস্কারকের নাম মুনসী মেহেরউল্লা।
সে সন্ধিক্ষণে সময়ের দাবী পুরণে মুনসী মেহেরউল্লার আবির্ভাব এবং যুগের দাবীর প্রেক্ষিতে তিনি হয়ে ওঠেন ব্রিটিশ বিরোধী সম্মুখ সারির এক যোদ্ধা। দেশপ্রেম আর স্বজাতি প্রেমে উদ্দীপ্ত হয়ে তিনি ব্রিটিশ বিরোধী আন্দোলনে এক নতুন অধ্যায়ের রচনা করেন।
প্রকৃত অর্থে যার কোন প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক শিক্ষা ছিল না, অর্থ ছিল না, কিন্তু যা ছিল তা হল- স্বধর্ম আর স্বজাতি প্রেম আর সর্বোপরি গভীর দেশপ্রেম। সে বলে বলীয়ান হয়ে বাংলার মুসলমানদের বিশ্বাস রক্ষার্থে তিনি পাদ্রীদের সামনে ঢাল হয়ে দাড়ান। নিঃসন্দেহে বলা যায়, মুনসী মেহেরউল্লা সে সন্ধিক্ষণে না জন্মালে আমাদের সমাজের ধর্মীয় গঠন আজকের মত থাকতো না।
বাংলার মুসলমান এবং হিন্দু সম্প্রদায়কে খৃষ্ট ধর্মে ধর্মান্তরের হাত থেকে রক্ষা করার জন্য যুগের দাবী পুরণে তিনি মুনসী মেহেরউল্লা হয়ে ওঠেন। তাই, তিনি প্রকৃতই যুগের সৃষ্টি।
এর পর তিনি ব্রিটিশদের ধর্মান্তরকরণের মুল উদ্দেশ্য- তাদের উপনিবেশকে চিরস্থায়ী করার প্রচেষ্টা নস্যাৎ করার জন্য ব্রিটিশদের দেখানো ধর্মের হাতিয়ার তুলে নিয়ে এক ব্রিটিশ বিরোধী আন্দলনের এন নতুন অধ্যায়ের সুচনা করেন। তাইতো তিনি যুগের স্রষ্টা।

প্রকৃত পক্ষে মুনসী মেহেরউল্লা ভারত বর্ষে এবং বিশেষ করে বাংলায় ব্রিটিশ উপনিবেশের বিরুদ্ধে সম্মুখ সারির একজন যোদ্ধা। অকুতোভয় এক সেনাপতির মত তিনি ব্রিটিশ বিরোধী আন্দোলনে মাঠে অসুস্থ হন এবং পরবর্তীতে মৃত্যু বরন করেন।
