Описание к видео Year in Review | Survival Game using Unreal Engine 5

Hi everyone! This is a progress update for No Remains, a project I started with the intent of mastering the complex systems required to build a modern game. As a backend software engineer by trade, I’m using my passion for the survival genre as a vehicle to learn how to build modular, optimized, and data-driven solutions from the ground up.

My focus so far has been on building the core fundamentals with a "systems-first" mindset. Rather than just making things look good, I’m prioritizing architectural refinement, ensuring every mechanic is scalable and performant before moving into final polish.

Technical Highlights & Systems Built:
Developed in Unreal Engine 5.5 using C++ for core logic.
Implemented Gameplay Ability System (GAS) to handle attributes, survival status effects, and complex interactions.
Utilizing Motion Matching animation tech for fluid, responsive character movement.
Modular Character System designed to support dynamic equipment, clothing, and visual customization.
All Data-Driven Design, leveraging Data Assets to decouple game balance and item stats from the code.
Procedural Content Generation (PCG) to efficiently populate and manage the open-world environment.

Current Mechanics Include
Comprehensive Item & Inventory Systems.
Weapon handling and combat logic.
Enemy AI and survival-based UI.
Modular character equipment and interaction fundamentals.

Inspired by the hardcore survival loops of games like DayZ and H1Z1 Survival (the original game), I’m excited to keep pushing this project forward. Hope you enjoy the update, and thanks for following along!
