This route to both the upper and lower Pomona Mines is 8 miles with about 2,300’ of elevation gain.   / @flynnhikes   I might have done an extra half mile due to being a dunderhead and walking right past the lower mine the first time around. At that point the hike devolved into a sketchy scramble up the very steep and rocky side of the mountain, something you definitely do not want to do. It was just a couple hundred yards at most, but there are many things that can go wrong in that short distance and I recommend against it.

Don’t miss Timmy and Lassie’s entire hike. Not only does Timmy get knocked unconscious in his fall, he also gets caught in a forest fire! The old radio used by the sheriff just after the 10 minute mark in the episode is not to be missed. DIRECTIONS to the trailhead: Drive west on Ramsey Canyon Road and park at the free Brown Canyon parking area or, as I did on this hike, drive another mile and park at the ranch house. There's a fee (or check the billboard for which passes can be used) if you park at the ranch house.
