In a major crackdown on illegal cattle smuggling, Keonjhar police, in coordination with Bhadrak police, conducted a raid at the residence of Sheikh Tajuddin of Mulla Sahi under Bhadrak Puruna Bazar police station limits early Saturday. During the operation, police reportedly recovered around ₹1 crore in cash, triggering shock and curiosity across the locality.

According to sources, the raid was carried out under Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita after police obtained a search warrant. The large volume of cash seized from the house of the alleged cattle smuggler has raised serious questions about the source of the money, which is now under detailed investigation. A Scorpio vehicle parked in front of the house was also searched as part of the operation.

Officials stated that the accused has multiple cases registered against him at various police stations in Keonjhar district related to illegal cattle trafficking. To ensure law and order, two platoons of police force were deployed during the raid.

The operation was led by Keonjhar Sadar SDPO Sudarshan Gangoi. Sources said currency counting machines were used to count the seized cash, while a goldsmith was engaged to weigh gold and silver items reportedly recovered. The verification process was continuing at the time of filing this report.
