Audi has started manufacturing the new A5 Avant and A5 Sedan models at its Neckarsulm plant, demonstrating a strong commitment to efficient and sustainable production practices. The updated production facilities utilize state-of-the-art processes that lower energy consumption and support responsible water usage. As part of Audi's "360factory" strategy, the goal is to achieve carbon-neutral production by 2025 through more efficient production lines, greater automation, and the adoption of innovative technologies that meet the highest quality standards.

This launch represents the largest production phase in the history of the Neckarsulm plant, with the new Audi A5 models built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), featuring partially electrified powertrains. The plant’s paint shop has been upgraded with energy-saving technologies that reduce energy use by up to 140 kWh per vehicle. A new paint separation technique also allows for more than 90% of filtered air to be reused, cutting down on fresh air conditioning requirements and eliminating the need for fresh water and chemicals, further reducing the environmental footprint.

Neckarsulm is leading Audi's efforts in automation, with over 80% of the materials in the body shop now handled automatically. This includes the fully automated installation of all add-on components, which improves fitting precision and reduces external influences. Quality control processes have also been enhanced through inline measurements and the use of augmented reality (AR) technology for inspections, ensuring consistently high standards in production. These innovations position the new Audi A5 models as a benchmark in modern automotive manufacturing.
