I’m Logan the 64th gear jammer Skeele and this is Toy Talk!

I’m going to talk about another classic Cab Over Truck and a 1:64th scale model of it.

Peterbilt and cab over trucks really went hand in hand for decades. They began making a cab over back in 1949 and have come a long way to get to the Model 372, which was the last “Line-Haul” cab over truck designed by Peterbilt with production ending before its predecessor, the 362. The 372 went out in 1994 and the 362 ended production in 2005 eliminating “line-haul” cabover trucks from Peterbilt’s lineup.

However, today I’m talking about the Model 352 which came on in 1959 and was the first Tilt-Cab COE by Peterbilt. It was also the first UniLite cab and with an update in 1969, it received the nickname “Pacemaker”.

The Pete 352 COE was offered in bumper-to-back of cab sizes from 54” day cab model, up to 110” double bunk sleeper models. Engine, transmission, and axles were all up to the choice of the customer to meet individual needs.

Interiors were plush and a cut above the competition to give that class look and feel associated only with a Peterbilt.

The Model 352 truly was the choice for owner operators who wanted the best and fleets that wanted to shine and stay ahead of their competition with efficient, classy trucks.

Now on with the product review.

This is the 1979 Peterbilt 352 cab over engine truck with 110” bumper to back of cab double bunk sleeper. It's a 1:64th scale truck by Neo Scale Models. Neo also makes an 86” BBC single bunk sleeper. This is the only tooling that Neo has that has been done by somebody else in recent times.
Diecast Promotions did a Pete 352 tooling in both BBC measurements. However, the DCP all diecast doesn't actually have the fine features that this all resin cab on diecast frame version has. Also the first Neo came out actually before the DCP did.

So you can see what this 1979 Pete 352 Cab Over looks like with a trailer hooked up to it. I happened to have one of the Wilson 40 foot livestock trailers from the seventies that Top Shelf Replicas made. And we'll get it hooked up so you can get a good idea what this would look like sitting on your layout with a trailer. A very common site, back in the day was cab overs pulling livestock trailers. This would set off your layout so that it looks different from anybody else's because not many people will have these trucks. That's the beauty of the limited nature of the resin cab on the diecast frame. We can have lots of vintage trucks on our layouts.
