Gospel: Luke 1:67–79 — The Benedictus

God promised David an eternal kingdom long before the King was ever born.
The psalm proclaims that God’s covenant stands firm across generations.
And in the Benedictus, Zechariah announces that the long-awaited dawn is finally breaking.

On Christmas Eve, the Church stands at the edge of fulfillment — still waiting, still watching, still trusting.

In this reflection, we will first proclaim the Mass readings in full, including the Gospel canticle known as the Benedictus, and then reflect on what it means to trust God when the promise is real… but not yet fully seen. What does faith look like in the final hours of waiting? What does it mean to hope when the night has not yet passed?
