On the night of September 29, 2012, attacks and arson were carried out in the Buddhist villages of Ramu, Ukhiya, and Teknaf. During this time, 13 Buddhist monasteries and 30 houses were vandalized and looted. Even after a decade, the identities of those involved have not been identified, and none of the 18 cases have been resolved in court. The delay in justice is believed to be due to witnesses from the Buddhist community not coming forward and flaws in the investigation.
