For the second episode, we came to Jammu's one of the oldest temples Peerkho Temple & Ziyarat Peermitha.


Peer Kho Cave Temple, also known as Riksharaj Gufa, is a historic cave temple in Jammu, India, dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed to have originated in the 15th century AD during the reign of Raja Ajaib Dev, and is associated with the sage Peer Siddha Ghareeb Nath. The temple is located on the banks of the Tawi River and is known for its historical and mythological significance, with some legends linking it to the Ramayana era.

The temple's construction is attributed to Raja Ajaib Dev in the 15th century AD.
Dedicated to Peer Siddha Ghareeb Nath:
It was built as a shrine for the revered Peer, Saint Siddha Ghareeb Nath.

Hindu and Muslim Significance: The temple is considered important by both Hindus and Muslims, symbolizing religious coexistence.
Legends and Connections: Legends link the temple to Lord Shiva's followers meditating during the time of Ravana and to Jambavan, a character in the Ramayana who is said to have meditated in the cave.

Cave Temple: The temple is situated within a cave, about 20 to 30 feet underground.
Shivling: The main deity is a Shivling, situated on a rectangular platform.
Location: It's located on the banks of the Tawi River, surrounded by igneous rocks and acacia forests.

Pilgrimage Site: It remains a popular pilgrimage site and a place of religious importance in Jammu.
Festival Destination: It's a significant spot during festivals like Shivratri, Raksha Bandhan, and Shravan Puranmashi.
