Mass market skincare brands might include plants as a minor ingredient, but in reality they rarely want to cope with some of the challenges of formulating and manufacturing a truly plant-based skincare product.

I'm taking you behind the scenes into 3 major reasons you'll see plants used usually as just 10% or less of the ingredients in mass market products, and often as little as 1% or 2% of a product's total recipe.

It's not easy being botanically based, but it can be worth the work for skin. Still, sometimes I wish I didn't have to cope with some of these challenges myself. I've had more than a few panicky work days over plant problems, and it's only getting more interesting as time goes on....
