We’ve got a special look into the brilliantly terrifying way VFX artists took on the look of Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise. Ralph Fiennes played the role brilliantly - with a little help from that classic CGI look. From that infamous non-existent nose - to those magical spell castings - we’ve got you covered on how the Voldemort CGI was done.
This isn’t your average Harry Potter behind the scenes video - we’re taking you on the evolution of how every aspect of He Who Must Not Be Name’s visual effects work. This work took a while to master as well - with a constant eye for detail when it came to his look - and of course his surroundings. Every spell he cast got better and better in all the Harry Potter scenes as they came to the big screen. But as Tom’s appearance got less practical - his creatures became more animated. That Basilisk Harry slays in the Chamber of Secrets - was surprisingly more real than you’d think. And Nagini? Well for safety reasons - it was probably for the best that they went with full CGI on that one.
There were a lot of us at the edge of our seats - seeing the fully formed Dark Lord on the big screen. And we could never guess how his final look was actually achieved - until now. Some of these interesting facts will make you raise an eyebrow - which was not really possible for poor Ralph Fiennes!
