I can't help being obsessed with having to know what is out there

The colonial sites buried in the overgrown forests of NH are out there somewhere and I am so obsessed with finding them. I head out to what we call the Abyss to do some exploring, hiking and detecting. The place is huge and we have already located many sites with cellar holes. The thing is the rock walls, they are all over the place. Some go on for miles, some are incomplete and some just don't make any sense at all. If there is anyplace with a bit of mystery in the woods this is it. Reading the landscape history I look for improved land by the early settlers. I see where the loggers in the 1930s left their marks upon the land , and I see the remains of wagon trails light imprinted in the soil. Finding old places from the 1700s can be a bit more difficult in conditions like this where the landscape is rugged and an overgrown mess. But somebody built these stone walls and for a reason and that's what keeps me exploring for a discovery.
