As we celebrate Mother's Day I have included a Mother's Day prayer to mark this special day. And to all our Mums we wish you a very Happy Mother's Day

A Prayer on Mother’s Day
As we celebrate Mother’s Day, we give thanks for our own mother. We thank you for being the wonderful you.
Thank you for all the love you have given.
Thank you for your patience, your understanding and your dedication. Thank you for your advice, your wisdom and for being uniquely you.
Thank you for making many sacrifices, thank you for your total dedication and for doing so many things for me.
You know me better than most. You have been with me through everything. There will never be enough words to say thank you.
You are special every day but on Mother’s Day you are even more special. I pray to you today asking our Loving God to bless you, to keep you in good health and to give you strength, courage, compassion and peace. May you continue to be a woman of love and of hope. May you be blessed today and every day.
And if your Mum is deceased we also remember her with love on this Mother’s Day.
Amen

Around the world, Mother's Day is celebrated on different days throughout the year. In Ireland and the UK, Mother's Day is always held on the fourth Sunday of Lent, and in 2025 it is taking place on Sunday March 30th.

Here is a sample of other  countries celebrating Mother's Day in 2025 and you can see there is quite a variety of different dates!

Ireland and the UK - March 30th
Hungary, Portugal and Spain - May 4th (first Sunday of May)
US, Brazil and Australia - May 11th
France - May 25th

We will gently explore all of these & so much more. As a priest working in the Diocese of Cork and Ross I hear people say to me more and more: "I am spiritual but not religious". This channel is a humble & gentle attempt to reach out to those who sense and feel God in their lives but have little connection to more organised religion. Hopefully this channel can be a stepping stone for you to finding peace, light, comfort, hope and spiritual strength. The first step is to know God loves you.
