My Personal Ranking Of Kawabata's Books

Since I read 7 books by Kawabata for the first time in 2024, I am tempted to rank them according to my personal preference. Kawabata's books are infused with Japanese sentiments, values and culture. Due to my personal prejudices of old traditional Japanese values and customs, my initial reactions were with many criticisms of the Kawabata's nonchalant attitude toward Japanese non-salacious customs, namely men-women relationships and some apparently appaling nature of social norms. But eventual enjoyments came from reading strong female characters and descriptions of nature and customs. My three most favorite Yasunari Kawabata are "The Dancing Girl Of Izu", "Snow Country" and "The Sound Of Mountain" from 76 year-old man's personal point of view. I consider Yasunari Kawabata as a must read Japanese modern author.
