Fetch: How to get started

There are steps you can take to make Fetch an enjoyable game for you and your dog. Be patient and allow your dog to set the pace on how quickly you move through each phase. it's important that you begin by tossing the ball in opposite directions. This will serve two purposes; 1) The dog will begin to complete the pattern of returning to you as they go in the opposite direction to get the other ball and 2) It will avoid the issue of your dog drifting further and further away from you because he knows the direction you will be throwing the ball. Most of all, have fun and avoid situations where you feel you need to force your dog to give up their ball, instead, find something to trade that has enough value for the dog to release it.
