The Union sports ministries have submitted a proposal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
India has officially decided to bid for the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
If the common wealth games committee accepts India’s bid, the Games will be hosted in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The central government will sign agreements with the Gujarat state government and provide financial support to make this happen.
The Commonwealth Games is kind of like the Olympics, but only for countries that were once ruled by the British Empire.
There are 72 countries participating in this.
It was first held in 1930 in Canada and happened every four years.
If India is hosting which means it is a huge profit for India.
That means thousands of athletes, coaches, officials, tourists, and media persons will come to India, giving a big boost to local businesses and the economy.
Ahmedabad already has world-class sports facilities, including the Narendra Modi Stadium.
They have successfully hosted the ICC Cricket World Cup final in 2023.
Hosting the Games will not only showcase India’s sporting power but also promote tourism, jobs, and opportunities in many fields like transport.
It will also build a strong sense of national pride and unity.
So, India is ready to aim big for 2030!
In 2010 Commonwealth Games were held in New Delhi.
About 6,000 athletes from 71 nations participated.
India finished 2nd in the medal tally with 101 medals.
So hopefully we get a bid and wait for more updates.
