Australian Rules Football - Around the Grounds - Brunswick Street

Описание к видео Australian Rules Football - Around the Grounds - Brunswick Street

The Brunswick Street Oval is located in Fitzroy and was the home ground of the Fitzroy Football Club from 1883 (they entered the VFL in 1897) through to 1966. The ground is now called the W.T. Peterson Community Oval.

Billy tells stories about Barry Breen's first game in 1965, an unfortunate off the field experience and the last game at the Brunswick Street Oval when Carl Ditterich raised emotions on and off the field. He also shares a classic tale about Tony Ongarello (thought to be the last player to kick a goal from a place kick in 1955). Billy closes by recognising Champion Brownlow Medalist (3) and member of the AFL Team of the Century - Fitzroy great Haydn Button.

Details on the Brunswick Street Oval can be found at Wikipedia and Austadiums.
