Quick Review:
A friend of mine swapped his bridge on a Squier CV Bass and it was surprisingly a night and day difference in sound. Out of curiosity, I did the same thing with my Fender Player-Series Jazz Bass - my results coming out way less drastic. The Fender Hi-Mass Bridge is more than twice as heavy, feels and looks more solid and less "fragile" and seems to hold everything in place with added stability. In terms of sound, I notice a slightly less "round" bottom end and a little more "presence" on top. I personally slightly prefer the sound of the standard bridge. Not a huge difference though. I made this comparison for folks that consider upgrading their gears and might be interested in the experiment.
