ACC - Test Race @ Watkins Glen w/ New Simagic Alpha Mini & GT4 NEO Rim | First Direct Drive Wheel!

A new week and oops... not an LFM daily race video haha.. Anyway I finally pulled the trigger on the full sim setup & bought the Simagic bundle with Alpha Mini Base along with GT4 NEO rim. A quick 15 minutes test race at Watkins Glen in the Porsche 992 GT3R on Assetto Corsa Competizione. Yes, this is the first race after mounting the wheel & firing the game. No qualifying, no practice.. Driven on default aggressive setup.

This is my first Direct Drive wheel and also driving using one for the first time in my life. I gotta say right of the bat the smoothness is off the charts. In the old belt driven Thrustmaster TMX, I could feel the jerkiness sometimes.. this was way back when the FFB was actually functioning like it's supposed to do. Later on with heavy rally usage & overtime wear and tear, the FFB itself became weak and there was hardly anything even with 100% FFB in game settings. My only concern is with the GT4 Neo rim is the side holders.. As you can see in the video, I kept feeling that handle on either sides... I personally don't grip it too hard, but still with a bit more grip it feels like it'll snap after a few years of usage. Of course, from the durability perspective, the GT4 carbon wheel seems like a better option, but that comes with a hefty price tag... at least in Singapore and Asian region where I live. Coming from Thrustmaster TMX, the difference in driving can be felt right of the bat with the more enhanced force... I could feel the slides even better and could also sense the tarmac much more detailed. Slides can be caught a bit more earlier as well. Overall a great feeling. I did not push it too hard... I don't wanna shatter my wrist on day 1 of DD wheel ownership 🤣

Please bear in mind I haven't used other bases so anything more than 10 - 12nm would feel even prominent. I raced using the default preset or whatever it is that comes with the software, except I reduced the in game force to 25%. Let's hope this will bring back the spark for me in sim racing which I have had completely lost & continue to bring out that content & also race against y'all.
