Sushma Kapoor, MD Family Medicine Residency Director

Dr. Kapoor is the program director for the Southern Regional AHEC Family Medicine Residency in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The program’s mission is to train future family physicians who want to provide well-rounded, passionate care to their patients while gaining a robust residency experience.

The Family Medicine Center sees about 25,000 patients annually and our physicians admit their own patients in the hospital (Cape Fear Valley is located across the street from the residency) to maintain a continuity of care. For our program, Dr. Kapoor seeks residents who are curious, compassionate, and who want to continue the life-long learning process.
In addition to primary care, the Family Medicine Center offers numerous specialties from which residents can learn, including pharmacy, endocrinology, podiatry, nutrition, and behavioral health. This provides well-rounded learning for our residents and more comprehensive care for our patients. Our procedure clinic offers routine family medicine practices such as muscular-skeletal injections, ultrasound, GYN, and skin procedures. Residents also receive training in the business side of medicine that includes billing/coding, quality improvement, and value-based care.

Dr. Kapoor has enjoyed living in Fayetteville for the past 14 years and with her family, experiences all that the area has to offer. They enjoy watching local talent at the theater or dare something more adventurous such as zip lining or sky diving. She welcomes you to explore our program and become part of our community.
