Jam 'ole run 95

Описание к видео Jam 'ole run 95

Loaded pair of Joshers captained by 'Rocket' Ron Whitey with a team of boatmen of old head loaded from Suttons (Hawksbury Junction near Coventry) to the location of the Jam factory in Southall, and on to Willowtree Marina to unload. Trevor Maggs on Corona also sharing the load.

It was on the 25th anniversary of the last load of coal delivered to Kearley and Tonge's factory in Southall. In 1970 the boatman were told by the factory workers, this is going to be your last load when they delivered early in the year, but some extra coal was needed in October and three motor boats were loaded, and made the journey once more. Instead of taking a week, it took several weeks thanks mostly to the canal in the few months since the last run silting up due to the gravel pits around Hartshill and Nuneaton pumping their waste water into the canal.

Many thanks to Brenda Whitey and Nick Hill for filming these moments, and allowing me to put them up here.
