You’ve heard about something called pre-settlement funding. Unfortunately, this was probably after you’ve been badly hurt in an accident. Pre-settlement funding is offered by thousands of companies, but what you need to know is that in most, if not all cases it is used to make a profit for that company, not to help the individual who was injured.

It is almost always a bad idea to accept pre-settlement funding because of the ridiculously high interest rates that are charged on these loans. They term these loans as investments in your lawsuit, which is really just a way for them to get around the laws intended to prevent usurious or unfair interest rates.

To put this in perspective, if you borrow three thousand dollars from one of these companies, do not be surprised that near the end of your lawsuit you are paying back nine, ten, or maybe even fifteen thousand dollars. The only situation in which choosing pre-settlement funding would be a reasonable option would be if you were in a dire economic situation where you need to pay for food, clothing or shelter.
