Aquarium Systems Universal Filter Sock

Filter socks, when maintained properly, can greatly reduce the biological load on your filter system and improve water clarity for a very low cost.Aquarium systems Universal filter socks come in 3 micron levels which are: 50um,100um and 200um and have an integrated overflow built into the rigid plastic collar.
By removing particles from the water column, items like uneaten food, algae and solid fish waste. These are trapped in the sock stopping it being recirculated into the tank, removing a large amount of the visible particulates. If you practice good maintenance, by removing and cleaning your socks regularly, you will be taking the pressure off your filters biological cycle. You will also dramatically reduce the amount of nitrate and phosphates being released as the organic matter trapped in the sock breaks down.
