In a tragic incident near the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, a 12-year-old tiger known as T-86 was killed by villagers following an alleged attack on a shepherd. The tiger reportedly killed 51-year-old Bharat Lal Meena while he was grazing goats near the reserve in Uliyana. In response, around two dozen villagers confronted the tiger the next day, assaulting it with stones and sharp objects. The tiger was found with severe injuries consistent with this attack, and its death has raised concerns about rising human-wildlife conflicts in the region.

Following the incident, the villagers blocked a nearby road, protesting the perceived threat from tigers and highlighting ongoing tensions between local communities and wildlife conservation efforts. T-86 had previously been monitored by forest officials due to an older injury from a territorial dispute with another tiger. The reserve authorities have initiated a postmortem examination to understand the full circumstances surrounding the tiger’s death and to explore preventive measures for similar future conflicts​​​​​​.
