Welcome to Peak Planet. In this video, we are going to cover hydration bladders and water bottles to bring with you on Mount Kilimanjaro climb.

Each night you’ll have a trip briefing and the guide will tell you how much water you’ll need for the next day.

They will bring you water to fill your hydration bladder and water bottle.

We collect water from various sources on the mountain such as streams.

And then we use tablets to treat it.

First of all, you’re going to want a 3-liter hydration bladder. This will be your primary source of water during the hiking part of the day.

Make sure it has a mouthpiece that shuts off and doesn’t drip prior to arriving in Tanzania

To prevent freezing you may want to invest in a neoprene sleeve or wrap tubular webbing around the straw.

Burn the edges to keep it from fraying.

Additionally, you may also want to keep a warm item of clothing, such as a fleece, to wrap it in.

You can tuck the mouthpiece into inside your shirt next to your skin

or just inside your jacket to keep it from freezing.

Make sure to pack a Nalgene or Insulated Bottle.

You can flavor the water with Gatorade or Nuun tablets.

Do not put flavoring into the hydration bladder because the bladder will get funky after a couple of days.

Do not bring any disposable water bottles they are illegal in the Park.

Finally, bring an inexpensive bottle to pee in at night to avoid leaving the tent. You can dispose of the contents in the morning.

Thank you for watching. We hope this has been helpful.
