MOVING VLOG: Apartment hunting in Tamale Ghana, 6 houses | Living alone in Ghana | New chapter

In today's video, I will show you the houses I saw whiles apartment hunting in Tamale. I saw 6 houses in total. But in total, I think I saw over 12 places.
Apartment hunting is one of the most stressful but needful things to do when relocating to a new place.

The housing market in Tamale is actually not too different from Accra. The only difference is, it is slightly more affordable. Even that is very relative.

Things to note:
1. Agents will STRESS you! | had 2 agents. One I got from the internet and one through a recommendation. They will send you to all sorts of places, but if you don't like it, look at more apartments till you find what you want. It's their job to get you what you like.
2. You have to pay a viewing fee of 50ghs ($3.3 equivalent) to the agents before they will start to show you houses. Tell them your budget, and sometimes, understate it a bit so they don't try scamming you.
3. Landlords will normally require you pay a 2 years advance rent.
4. NEGOTIATE the rent if you can. Sometimes, agents overprice apartments to cut deals, so negotiate.
5. Agents will take either a 10% of your total rent or one month rent as agent fee. You can negotiate that as well, if your rent advance is high.
6. You can use apps like Tiktok, Tonaton and Jiji to find apartments. Another thing you can do is, locate the area you want to live in, and go there yourself
physically. When you see an apartment you like, enter and find out if there is any vacant room. This way, you avoid agent fees and issues.
7. Finally, do not rush to make a decision. You are the one going to live in the house. Do not let anyone force you to take something you do not like. Take your time, and you will find the apartment you want.

So now I finally have a house here in Tamale and I will be taking you on the journey of furnishing and setting up the house. And I hope you guys enjoy it.
