[Recorded: 2-15-22] Country Club Plaza is a shopping mall located in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento. This mall opened in the early 1960s and featured Sacramento's first Weinstocks department store. The original anchors for this mall were Weinstocks and a JCPenney at the opposite end of the mall. In 1994, JCP closed and was replaced by a Gottschalks department store later that year. Weinstock's became Macy's two years later. In 2009, Gottchalks closed its doors with Macy's following in 2016, leaving this mall with no anchor stores left. Unfortunately, this has been a dead and dying mall for as long as I can remember. I can remember shopping at Gottschalks and Macy's with my mom but as for the mall itself, I always remembered it being a sad, empty, and eerie space that was always struggling.

Earlier this year, I decided to revisit this mall and relive some memories I have of the place. Many of you have requested an updated video of this mall but I have been so busy that I just couldn't get around to it. That also is the reason why there has been a significant drop in new content on this channel, but I promise I will try to push out more as I find the time.
