What is the Radius of Gyration?

Описание к видео What is the Radius of Gyration?

The Radius of Gyration is used in calculating the buckling strength of columns and beams that are vulnerable to lateral or lateral-torsional buckling. It is defined as the square root of (the moment of inertia divided by the cross-sectional area).

After a little more discussion of the radius of gyration and its uses, I show three examples of calculating it in rectangles and I-beams.
