160km Backcountry Triangle | Part 1 The Approach | Vol Biv Paragliding New Zealand

Описание к видео 160km Backcountry Triangle | Part 1 The Approach | Vol Biv Paragliding New Zealand

This is day 1 of a 2 day Vol Biv where I was attempting to fly a big triangle around the backcountry of the South Island of New Zealand. There's a couple of good spots to try big triangles but I thought based on the weather forecast this was the best area. Also it has good options for changing the length of the triangle from 130km all the way to 200km so that you can adjust the 2nd and 3rd turn points depending on the speed and quality of the day.

The start place I was aiming for is an area that is away from any lakes or large open flat areas that tend to be more stable in the mornings, also on other trips in the area I have observed that this ESE facing range is usually the first spot that cumulus start forming, making it a good place for an early start.

The problem is getting to this spot is about 8 hours walking, with the forecast the day before looking flyable but still more challenging I decided to try and fly my way and set up camp on the summit.

I was flying the Ozone Zeolite GT and Frace harness, check them out here:
