Longplay of Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason, a 2008 FPP Psychological Survival Horror game, set in the North Pole, in the near vicinity and inside a frozen russian tanker, in the year 1981. On our way to board it, It is found to be abandoned and apparently frozen in ice since 1968, in mysterious circumstances. Developed by ukrainian Action Forms, published by 505 Games and 1C Company, released exclusively for the PC in December 2008. Game uses the bleeding edge features of Nvidia PhysX cranked up to the max, which I also use here too, at the highest possible settings in every regard. Played and recorded at 2560x1440 H.265 HEVC via OBS.

My Top 1 surprise in 2024. This game is, save for some euro-jank and technical stuff/budget limitations, absolutely BRILLIANT, wonderful, advanced technologically, greatly written, tense and stressful in the best sense possible. 8,5/10, I wish I'd played it earlier than 2024!

Cryostasis takes place in 1981 on an Arktika-class nuclear-powered icebreaker called the North Wind near the North Pole. The main character, Alexander Nesterov, is a Russian meteorologist who was supposed to board the ship for a lift home after completing a tour of duty at the pole; however he finds it's been shipwrecked since 1968 and its dead crewmen have undergone bizarre metamorphosis. Through the game the character finds fragments of Maxim Gorky's fairy tale The Flaming Heart of Danko, which parallels what happened to the ship and its crew.
