One popular place near Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin may be called the "Gateway to Door County."

With about 1,200 acres of terrain to explore, property supervisor Erin Brown Stender says Potawatomi State Park has a lot to offer, including the newly renovated 75-foot-tall observation tower.

There's a boat landing, with a new accessible kayak launch nearby, and just down the shoreline, Brown Stender says a universal fishing pier is available as well.

Potawatomi is also the eastern terminus of the 1,200-mile-long Ice Age National Scenic Trail.

Potawatomi State Park welcomes about 250,000 visitors a year. Officials say they are working on a new welcome center as well. Construction is expected to wrap up later this fall.
