Deception 4: The Nightmare Princess Playthrough #1 - Story Mode (No Commentary)

Deception Series:    • Deception Series
This is a redo of my Deception 4 playthrough I did over 4 years ago. When I originally played this game, I had no experience with the Deception series and thus I didn’t really get it at the start. The goal here is to make a relatively better set of videos given I now have loads of experience with the series.

Please note that this is segmented and edited. I also played this on a PS5. I did not buy any of the DLC traps.

Notes
I would like to be enveloped by Veruza’s hair. Also, obviously.

The requests are just bonus points and they don’t matter. In fact, they reset when you play a chapter again.

Unlike the previous games, there’s no bonus for not getting hit. Getting hit seems to be intended given how much harder enemies can be to deal with compared to every previous game in the series and the abundant healing. I avoid getting hit early on but the way the rooms are laid out during the ruins section pretty much requires you to take damage if you want to stay sane.

If you’re wondering why I use the rake throughout the playthrough, despite acquiring so many traps, it’s because it doesn’t actually count as a floor trap and can’t be resisted the same way springboards or bear trap likes can. Delta horses function similarly but can only control one target at a time, unlike the rake.

I forgot about the gun nun and the budget Darkness, lmao. This game is silly. I don’t mind it too much, considering the series consistently failed narratively. May as well be silly if you can’t do serious/meaningful.

In chapter 11, Victor will use his ability to remove traps 3 times before he can actually be hit. The desire for Ignacio will fail if even so much as his toe touches the lava, which his AI will end up doing without any help from you as it tries to throw axes. I got sick of dealing with the RNG.

Speaking of RNG, You can place the same traps in the same position and sometimes it just doesn’t work right. Why? Because the game feels like it.

The endings have the following requirements:
Ending 1 requires you to kill Celia during chapter 6.
Ending 2 requires you to armor break Celia during chapters 6 and 11. Afterwards, choose to believe her.
Ending 3 requires you to armor break Celia during chapters 6 and 11. Afterwards, choose to not believe her.
Ending 4 requires you to armor break Celia during chapter 6 but not in chapter 11.

When you armor break Celia in chapter 6, the chapters ‘In The Name of Justice’ and ‘A Legend Reborn’ become chapters 9-2 and 10-2, to make room for chapter 11-2. All of the dialogue is the same, as well as the enemies for those chapters, so I’m not going to show them again. The variants of chapter 12 also feature the same gameplay and dialogue until you finish the final boss, so I just show the endings right after showing the requirements.

In the original version of Deception 4, it was necessary to play through the entire game for each ending. However, in Nightmare Princess this is not required as you can replay any chapter whenever you want. Thank God, as there’s no differences at all between what could laughably be called routes.
